Group Program

The OYH Group Program provides a wide range of meaningful, challenging and fun activities in a supportive peer group environment to aid recovery from psychosis. The group program assists people with similar mental health difficulties to find out they are not alone.

The groups are small in size, usually four to eight people. Group facilitators are qualified health professionals, including social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and psychologists, who are experienced in helping young people to help each other.

There are lots of different types of groups to choose from and they address a variety of areas including focusing on:

  • vocational participation e.g. school, study and work
  • improving health e.g. physical fitness, reducing drug use and stress management
  • social and leisure activities which help young people to connect with others
  • self exploration and expression such as outdoor adventure and music
  • independent living skills
  • management of anxiety about recovery from illness

Case managers can arrange for young people to join the group program at any time
