Our Vision
The work of EPPIC is based upon the following values and beliefs:
- Young people with mental health problems or mental health disorders are entitled to quality support, treatment and care designed to best suit their individual circumstances
- Appropriate interventions for young people with mental health problems or mental health disorders are provided at the earliest possible opportunity
- Services are promoted and provided in a manner that reduces the potential for "lost opportunities" in providing early intervention services for young people
- Services are provided to young people in a manner that engages them as partners in recovery and is respectful of their views and opinions
- Diversity among young people is valued
- Family members and other carers are kept informed and supported when services are being providing to their young person with mental health problems or a mental health disorder
- Government, young people, family members, the community and other service providers provide the context in which Orygen Youth Health provides its services
- Interventions and treatment for young people with mental health problems or mental health disorders are based upon sound evidence based practice
- Further research into interventions, treatment and treatment approaches is required to enhance evidence based practice with young people in the area of mental health and mental health disorders
- Research should include the trial of innovative community based and clinical approaches
- Results of research and applied learning will be disseminated at a local, national and international level in order to reform the development of mental health services for young people
- The goal of mental health service development is to improve outcomes, quality of life and cost effectiveness of treatment for young people experiencing mental health disorders
